: Maintaining a Net Café :

Owning a small net café here in our neighborhood has it’s ups and downs. It is always nice to have lots of customers coming in and renting for couple of hours. The minimum mins. is 30 mins. and of course they can surf till they drop. Mostly my customers were female and in their teens although there are many mommies or adults coming in too using the webcam etc. I am always happy when no one is complaining about the connection, pc slowing down or crashing, or headphone not working but when those troubles arises I need to assist them already.

Just this morning, I reformatted another pc (thanks to my nephew who taught me how to do so) bec. there are lot’s of pop ups. Actually reformatting a pc is quite easy bec. you just need to follow the dialogue boxes and you are set to go. I already saved time from bringing the pc to my technician as well as money. My sis-in-law on the other hand is also trying to trouble shoot the pc that has no power yesterday. She only opened the pc, cleaned it, removed the dust by blow dryer and voila it’s working already. I can say, we can only fix minor problems but changing video cards or other hardware inside the pc are things that we also wanted to learn.

Oh well, at least we already know how to troubleshoot which is also a must if you have a business like mine. Some of the things that give me headache was when my ISP is down and when customers try to change the computer’s setting and installing programs or games in it. That is kinda annoying for me, really it is.

: They moved their factory :

Sis JoyD told us lately that their Benchtops Factory has moved into a new and better location but still in near the Chippingnorton area. They specialize in laminated kitchen benchtops and serve the Sydney area. It’s no joke to move a factory to a new location since it will require a lot of packing and unpacking, I am not sure though if they got a truck rental to moved all the factory’s supplies and machinery. Just read on her blog that she helped with the cleaning, dusting and other preparations.

My bro in law is very hardworking and running that kind of business is quite stressful and demanding at times. I wish my sister Joy will also learn the ins and outs of their business so that they’ll both manage it although sis have been doing some paper works or bill payments for their company.

Franchise anyone?

When starting up businesses it is always in a business plan to either start from scratch or to buy a franchise. This may include companies like McDo, KFC, Pizza hut or even cleaning services. There are literally thousand of businesses to choose from. The advantage of buying a franchise is that you already have the company's name well established and a business plan already in order. You usually have one-off payments and you have back up servcies from the company headquarters. Although it has the same problem owning a franchise I think it is less risky from starting from scratch. If i will have the capital I'd love to buy one of those McDonalds where every loves.

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good start of the year. January 1st was a usual business day for me here; I opted not to come with my family at one of my bro’s friend and just opened my shop at 2 pm. My nephew and I were at our Net café and since other shops near me were closed so I have a bunch of customers later in afternoon.

So it was a good start for my business here and I hope it will continue till the rest of the year but too bad one of my rental pc is out of order. Our small party business slumped

With our desire to increase our income in the last few years, mom decided to open another business which is the Small Party needs business. At first I was too hesitant to open it as I don’t know much about the business, I remember I was the one making the party balloons putting helium gas in it and I was just so scared. With my little knowledge on the new business, not so much enthusiasm on the business and not enough market research on my part, the business did not succeed. I am partly blamed for it because I don’t really like that business and mom just wants us to put it. We end up removing that and I concentrated on my computer business instead.

The lesson I have learned is that we should not go into business when we don’t know about the product and if we will not put our hearts into it. We should do what we want and have passion for or else it will not succeed like what we did before.

What do you do to make both ends meet?

Awww , it’s the end of the month already and what will be the next thing that will come to us in few more days? Did I hear bills? Oh yeah right, we can’t escape that for we have obligations monthly. For those working in companies and have regular salaries, sometimes their earnings are not adequate to pay the house rent, grocery and other bills. Me, eventhough I have a small computer shop here , I don’t have to pay for the rent of the place but still there are times I need to think of other means to leave more comfortably. I don’t just rely solely for the computer rentals income, so on the side I accept computer typing jobs, I make all kinds of invitations/business cards, I sell CD-R/W etc. to create more income.

Aside from that before I used to make digital scrapbooking kits designs for the Scrapping Garden online store. At 1st it was ok but I could not keep up with the obligations so I had to resign from that. And fortunately, this paid blogging came along that was introduced by Cherry Rose, our co-Pinay digiscrapper and there I started to earn extra dollars and I am so happy about that. There are times that I have lots of opps (assignments) to write about but sometimes it was scarce.

Due to that I need to find another new business opportunity that can keep generating income (I’m business minded you know). Oh before I forget I also tried to make those cute bracelets with swarovski crystals or with other beads that I bought in Divisoria and I sell these here at my store.

So for those of you who are thinking of other means to generate income, you can start a small home business, be creative and sell it. Do something and find other ways.
